An exciting opportunity has arisen to shape a new role in our school effectiveness team.
As a member of our dedicated team, you'll be responsible for:
* Managing the education appeals processin line with the legislative requirements of the School Admissions Appeals Code and the Admissions Code. Be accountable for ensuring relevant statutory requirements are met, including legal and best practice deadlines.
* Managing the Council’s processes in relation to Exclusion Reviews in line with the legislative requirements and the Exclusion from Maintained Schools, Academies and Pupil Referral Units in England statutory guidance.
* Proactively marketing the education appeals service and developing and maintaining customer relations with own and other admission authority schools, including negotiating and agreeing contracts where applicable.
* Ensuring strong financial management to meet budgetary targets.
* Managing the pool of clerks, including the provision of training, support, advice and oversight of claims and payments.
* Undertaking the recruitment and training of Members for appeal panels in line with the requirements of the School Admissions Appeals Code, and develop and maintain good working relations with them.
* Providing detailed responses to enquiries and investigations by the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman and the Education Funding Agency.
* Preparing complex reports for Council and Committees about the appeals process as necessary.
* Acting as clerk at Education Appeals, in line with the requirements of the School Admissions Appeals Code.
* Reviewing procedures and processes, making recommendations and implementing changes.
* As the portfolio grows, to undertake additional roles and responsibilities within the school effectiveness team as required.
