Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Technician Location: Swansea Salary: Basic hourly rate: £17.50 PM shift allowance: An additional 10% when working the afternoon shift (part of a two-shift pattern) Night shift allowance: An additional 20% when working the night shift Vargo is recruiting for a maintenance technician for a manufacturing business in Swansea. As part of the Maintenance Department, you will support all technical aspects of factory operations, focusing on the maintenance, repair, and fault recovery of assembly and test equipment. You will also install production line equipment—including jigs, fixtures, and machines—to ensure maximum efficiency, quality, and safety. Key Responsibilities: and improving both standard and bespoke equipment. Duties include: Performing TPM on all equipment (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly) Managing and replenishing critical spare parts Completing high-quality equipment repairs Following lockout/tagout (LOTO) safety procedures Installing and calibrating production line fixtures and workstations Supporting NPD equipment delivery and commissioning Working with vision systems and applying basic principles Conducting root cause analysis (RCA) on machinery, jigs, and fixtures Electrical fault finding (relay logic, soft start drives) Pneumatic system troubleshooting Supporting PLC breakdowns (Beckhoff, Omron, Siemens) Developing understanding of ladder logic and control systems Requirements: Time served Electrical/Mechanical tradesman. Hands on Background of electrical and mechanical engineering, Automation, tooling, assembly etc. Able to develop a thorough understanding of all aspects of maintenance and machine requirements. Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving capability. Desirable: HNC in relevant engineering discipline Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics. Electrically Bias. Good PLC knowledge.
