Overview
As a Yard Assistant at Alsford, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of our branch. You'll be committed to delivering excellent service to both new and existing customers, helping to uphold the high standards we're known for.
Your strong organisational skills, reliability, and passion for customer service will be essential in maintaining an efficient and well-presented yard. You'll also be responsible for safely operating a forklift truck, ensuring that deliveries are loaded and unloaded quickly and accurately to support the branch's busy schedule.
Duties
We're looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Yard Assistant to be part of our dynamic team at Alsford. In this hands-on role, you'll be at the heart of our branch operations, helping to keep things running smoothly while delivering outstanding service to our customers.
What you'll be doing:
* Safely unload, move, and store a wide range of building materials – keeping everything organised and secure.
* Offer a helping hand to customers by assisting them with loading their vehicles.
* Help prepare customer orders quickly and accurately, working closely with the Yard Supervisor.
* Be a friendly face in the yard – answering customer queries or directing them to the right team member.
* Keep the yard running like clockwork, with high standards in stock handling and organisation.
* Take pride in keeping the yard clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
* Represent Alsford with professionalism and positivity, always promoting our reputation for great service and quality.
* Operate forklifts, lifting equipment, and timber cutting machinery (full training provided where required).
* Report any equipment issues promptly to ensure everything stays in top working order.
* Take part in ongoing training to build your product knowledge and grow within the business.

Pay: £26,880.00-£28,000.00 per year

Experience:
* Builders merchant environment : 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
* Forklift Licence (preferred)
