Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Group Services
Location: Hinckley
What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join Galliford Try within our Group Services Business. Ideally, you will be based in or around the Hinkley area and will have opportunities to travel within the region.
We are seeking a highly capable and self-driven 3rd line support engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft 365, particularly SharePoint Online development and ideally Microsoft Purview configuration. This role is critical to the stability, security, and evolution of our digital workplace services.
The main focus will be on SharePoint development and governance. You will also act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues, lead resolution of high-impact incidents, and contribute to designing and implementing secure, scalable solutions across the Microsoft 365 platform.
* Provide expert-level 3rd line support for Microsoft 365 services, focusing on:
SharePoint Online: site architecture, custom development (SPFx), Power Automate workflows, permissions management.
* Microsoft Purview: configuration of data lifecycle policies, retention labels, DLP, sensitivity labels, and compliance solutions.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents and service requests escalated from 1st and 2nd line teams.
* Lead root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes for recurring issues.
* Design and implement automation scripts using PowerShell to streamline administration and reporting.
* Collaborate with security, compliance, and infrastructure teams to ensure governance, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
* Maintain and enhance documentation, knowledge base articles, and technical runbooks.
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal training and capability development.
* Participate in change management processes and contribute to technical design discussions for new services and improvements.
About You:
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a senior Microsoft 365 support or engineering role.
* Deep technical knowledge of:
SharePoint Online development and administration
Microsoft Purview (Information Protection, Data Lifecycle Management, Insider Risk, etc.)
* Microsoft 365 compliance and security features
* Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell.
* Experience with Microsoft Graph API and REST APIs for M365 services.
* Ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and propose effective, scalable solutions.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications
* Microsoft certifications such as MS-500, SC-400, or MS-700.
* Experience with:
Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Exchange Online
Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps and Entra ID Protection
Hybrid environments and legacy files to SharePoint Online migrations
Familiarity with Agile or ITIL-based service management practices.
