Overview
As Operations Support Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of Medway Power Station to achieve a high standard of continuous performance and maximum availability at optimum efficiency, ensuring that health, safety and environmental standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the running of the operations department, including rota’s, logs, reports, development and training, procedures and work instructions.
* Plan and deliver the operational aspect of outages (release of plant and apparatus, isolations, RTS), working closely with the maintenance and engineering teams.
* Deputise for the Production Manager when required.
* Proactively seek to improve SHE, availability, reliability and efficiency within the business.
* Planning, prioritising and organising work to meet deadlines and deliver business objectives.
* Report to the Production Manager and lead an Operations Team of shift group leaders, Permit Office Engineer and Operations Technicians, while working closely with the SSE maintenance and engineering teams and third‑party partners.
Qualifications
* Demonstrable industry experience and/or a degree‑level qualification or equivalent in an appropriate discipline with a good understanding of the operation of power or process plants.
* An active NEBOSH qualification. IOSH qualification will also be considered.
* A current or previous authorisation as an SAP.
* Strong interpersonal, motivation and influencing skills, with the ability to bring people and teams together and encourage conflict resolution.
* The capability to lead by example when setting high standards of work and safety management.
