Purpose of Role
VINCI Facilities’ Building Solutions business is seeking a Management Unit Lead to head our Residential arm, stabilising current delivery and driving sustainable growth across local authority and social housing portfolios. This is a senior leadership role, with direct line responsibility for three Senior PMs/Ops Managers and a Commercial Lead. The ideal base is in and around London (role covers UK, with a focus on the South East and Midlands).
Job Description
As the Management Unit Lead for Building Solutions, you will take end-to-end ownership of the Residential unit (currently £30m+ portfolio; £22m forecast next year). Your immediate priorities are to stabilise performance after a challenging year, bring together previously separate Residential North/South operations, and deliver a focused growth plan built on sustainable, long-term contracts with local authorities and councils. You will lead operational and commercial delivery, set direction, and be accountable for performance, client relationships, safety, quality, and profitability. The role involves regular travel and requires a full UK driving licence
Responsibilities
1. Lead and integrate the Residential unit—bringing together former North and South operations into a single, high-performing management unit.
2. Stabilise delivery and improve operational performance (safety, quality, programme, cost) across a significant portfolio of social housing works.
3. Own commercial outcomes: forecasting, margin management, risk/opportunity assessment, and contractual compliance.
4. Drive sustainable growth: develop pipelines and secure new, long-term contracts with local authorities and councils; expand client base and recruit talent to scale capability.
5. Provide strong leadership: set expectations, coach and develop Managers/PMs, and foster collaboration.
6. Represent VINCI Facilities credibly with clients and partners, ensuring excellent stakeholder engagement and resident liaison.
7. Ensure HSEQ compliance and continuous improvement, embedding mandated training and best practice.
8. Travel as required across the unit’s geography (UK focus: South East & Midlands)
Essential Qualifications/Skills
9. Proven senior management experience in social housing, overseeing a significant portfolio with accountability for operational and commercial delivery.
10. Leadership that drives performance and builds collaborative, high-performing teams.
11. Strong commercial acumen (forecasting, margin, contracts) and operations expertise.
12. Ability to win new business: develop opportunities, secure clients, and recruit to grow the unit sustainably.
13. Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel.
14. SMSTS and CSCS (statutory/mandatory for role); HSEQ training as per VINCI requirements (VINCI mandated e-learning applies)
15. MCIOB and/or relevant degree desirable (experience is essential; membership not mandatory).
In return for your hard work we offer additional training and development, 26 days holiday (+ bank holidays), generous pension contribution, life assurance and much more.
