Shop Manager – Maternity Cover

Pay range
£16,738 per annum (pro‑rata)
About the role
Part‑time, temporary 12‑month cover for maternity leave. 22.5 hours per week, 3 days a week (includes weekend work).
Location
Ludlow – Hope House Shop.
Responsibilities
* Manage the Ludlow shop, volunteers and customer services ensuring best representation of the charity on the high street.
* Process donations, gift aid, stock density and rotation, retail supplies and new goods, and use online sales to improve profitability.
* Maximise revenue using commercial flair, covering operational costs and generating profit contribution.
* Line‑manage and motivate staff and volunteers, providing performance reviews and leadership.
* Initiate relationships for stock generation, using IT to analyse sales trends and implement commercial change.
* Ensure efficient stock processing systems, accurate inventory and gift aid capture.
* Recruit, train and manage voluntary staff to represent the charity’s vision.
* Maintain cash handling procedures, EPOS system, daily banking, weekly return forms.
* Update colleagues on business performance, new initiatives and maintain quality, customer service and health and safety standards.
Qualifications
* Experience in retail shop management or similar.
* Strong commercial acumen and ability to maximise revenue.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Knowledge of stock control, EPOS systems and gift aid.
* Volunteer recruitment and training experience.
* Good understanding of health and safety and customer service standards.
