An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join us as Lead Buyer within the Naval Defense organization based in Peterborough, ON. The Buyer Team Leader role is responsible for managing and executing transactional purchasing processes for products and/or services across the business.
Responsibilities
* Drive delivery excellence and resolve issues, represent the team to the wider organization, and align with company values.
* Act as part of the local leadership team to improve processes, efficiencies and increase customer value and satisfaction.
* Work collaboratively within a highly efficient service delivery team to ensure sourcing meets current and future needs, maximizing transactional efficiency and quality using procurement systems and e‑commerce tools.
* Ensure all purchasing records and documentation are correct and maintained in line with regulatory requirements, support functional audit activities, and recommend process improvements for transactional tasks.
* Plan activities aligned to existing and expanded customer service offerings, managing visibility of progress against project plans.
* Support embedding and sustaining a high‑performance culture within the team and facilitate sharing of best practice across teams.
* Support identifying, recommending, and implementing workflow and process efficiency improvements.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Purchasing, Project Management, Engineering, Finance, or Business Administration with 5+ years of experience.
* Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada for more than five years.
* Able to obtain NATO security clearance (Secret Level) through the Canadian Contract Security Program.
* Experience in supply chain planning.
* Experience as a senior‑level buyer and/or leading a team of buyers.
* Managed complex supplier interfaces in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Requirements
* Purchasing process knowledge, ideally with experience of export requirements.
* Knowledge of SAP/iValua (Direct).
Compensation
Salary range will be $86,000 - $106,000 annually.
