Responsibilities
* Provide flexible cover to the ward.
* Participate in the assessment planning, implementation, and evaluation of packages of care using evidence‑based practice.
* Provide planned nursing care for patients.
* Communicate effectively during ward handover, ensuring that all relevant patient information is discussed and noted.
* Maintain nursing records to a high standard, involving patients in decisions about their care.
* All staff maintain high standards of Infection Prevention and Control and follow the agreed company policies and procedures.
* Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives/carers, multidisciplinary team colleagues and others.
* Act as an effective role model for junior colleagues and develop leadership skills.
* Act as a facilitator for learners and more junior members of staff and help maintain an effective learning environment.
* Continuously update professional practice.
* Participate in audit as required.
* Organise own time effectively.
* Act for the Ward Manager/Senior Staff Nurse in their absence on an occasional basis, ensuring operational and clinical standards and requirements are maintained.
* Ensure that incidents, accidents, drug errors and near‑miss events are reported according to policy.
* Assist in the management and organisation of the ward as requested by the Ward Manager/Senior Nurse on duty.
* Abide by the NMC Code of Conduct and other standards at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Experienced Staff Nurse with a strong interest in adult rehabilitation.
* Flexible approach; able to work days, nights and weekends as required.
* Interest in rehabilitation, ability to act on own initiative, excellent communication skills with a wide range of people, and flexibility in approach to change.
* Prior experience in adult rehabilitation preferred.
* Required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check due to access to vulnerable adults.
* Commitment to high‑quality care, inclusivity and community engagement.
About the Ward
The Cedars at Grace Anderson Ward provides a 25‑beded rehabilitation in‑patient unit, offering 24‑hour nursing care to adults over 18 years of age. We are entering a new challenge, taking forward community‑based care as well as in‑patient care, so flexibility and willingness to develop as the service changes are essential.
