Overview
We are looking for individuals skilled in organising and leading, to effectively manage the delivery of a broad range of administrative support functions and are keen to become successful leaders. This is a fixed term appointment, for up to 23 months, with the option to complete a Level 3 Business Administration or Team Leader Apprenticeship during the course of this appointment. Please note that if you choose to undergo the apprenticeship, the role will be full-time only due to split between working and learning requirements. However, there is an option to work part time with a minimum of 30 hours per week without the apprenticeship element.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership, management and direction to a team of operational support staff.
* Collaborate with the Senior Administrative Manager, Heads of Operations and regulatory colleagues across operational divisions to understand and support delivery of inspections and investigations in accordance with the yearly HSE workplan.
* Maintain effective communication and demonstrate strong leadership to deliver at pace, manage a quality service, and implement improvements to service delivery.
* Ensure adherence to agreed deadlines, perform regular and timely data quality checks, and manage and mitigate risks with due regard to GDPR considerations.
* Act as a line manager, leading and engaging in personal and team development and performance management. Regular office attendance is required.
* Work with the Senior Administrative Manager to lead and motivate operational support staff, promoting consistent high-quality service delivery.

* Drive a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and high performance; build staff capability through development, training and support; clarify roles, responsibilities and standards within the management command.
* Coordinate resources to support essential office-based tasks, review workloads and resources to ensure business priorities are understood and met; identify and escalate business risks as required.
* Develop and sustain external contacts to share knowledge, information and learning; respond positively to change.
* Promote positive behaviours aligned with the Civil Service Code.
* Ensure arrangements for office security, Secretariat, business continuity, and health and safety; liaise with facilities management and HSE estates teams as appropriate.
* Apply performance and attendance management procedures consistently; take timely formal disciplinary and informal action as necessary with support from the Senior Administrative Manager.

* Test and selection process includes Civil Service Management Judgement Test, a personal statement (up to 750 words) and a lead behaviour statement (up to 250 words). Details and deadlines are provided during the process.

* Security and vetting: successful candidates must undergo criminal record checks and meet security requirements. Baseline personnel security standard checks apply for those working with government assets.
