Join our a newly merged Social Housing Group, where your expertise and knowledge as an experienced residential Building Surveyor (on a 12 month fixed term contract) will support us in the provision of quality homes for our residents. You will support in our areas of operation: Beds, Berks, Bucks, Herts and will be based in our High Wycombe office, working in a hybrid way, 2-3 days office and the remainder at home. Together, we’re building a better future. This is a leadership role where you’ll mentor and develop Building Surveyors and Assistant Surveyors, fostering a culture of growth and succession. You’ll manage complex surveying operations, prepare detailed specifications, oversee contractor appointments, and act as project manager or contract administrator on major works. Your technical advice will support asset management strategies and ensure compliance with regulations including HHSRS, Decent Homes, and FHH. Key Responsibilities: Provide qualified and comprehensive advice and support on a range of property issue regular contacts. Mentor, coach and develop the competence of the Surveying team and other colleagues in the Surveying Services Department. Manage Building Surveyor(s) and Assistant Building Surveyor(s) ensuring that they are working effectively and efficiently. Providing support as required and effectively managing performance by regular one-to-ones and performance reviews Review proposals provided from internal or external stakeholders for structural, or non-structural alterations including, but not limited to, asset concerns, customer home improvements, disabled facilities grant works, party wall notices, neighbourhood / scheme improvements, shared ownership improvements, planned works, investments works and provide necessary advice. As required by Paradigm policy, carry out post inspections to sign-off as satisfactory. Act as project manager and/or contract administrator, principal designer, or client representative for repair or project works. What We’re Looking For Must haves: Minimum qualification of a HND in Building Construction OR degree in Building Surveying with a substantial formal surveying experience Experience in Building Surveys and repairs Inc. Major defects Experience of managing large projects from inception to completion including property alterations and / or energy efficiency Skilled at managing consultants and contractors Knowledge of building contract forms JCT Able to prepare specifications, plans, schedule of works Able to undertake inspections and report against HHSRS Physically fit to carry out inspections which might include dealing with inclement weather, poorly lit conditions, climbing stairs or ladders or scaffolds, visiting construction sites etc. Drivers licence and own vehicle Nice to haves: Some experience in the housing field, preferably for a registered social landlord Experience of CAD For added brilliance: A passion for working in social housing and a desire to impart knowledge and expertise to develop our teams to become the best they can be.
