Solution Lead Flexible Location with Travel Full Time, Permanent Band 3 / £63,000 - £83,000 (dependent on experience) Here at Serco, we’re looking for a smart, inquisitive individual to join our Growth team as a Solution Lead. This is a role for someone who’s naturally curious, collaborative, and thoughtful. You’ll work across our business to design and shape compelling, deliverable solutions for some of the UK’s largest and most complex public service contracts. From early shaping through to bid submission, you’ll collaborate with subject matter experts, operational leads, commercial, and finance colleagues to craft integrated and costed solutions that are both innovative and practical. This role isn’t about technical solution architecture. It’s about connecting the right people, translating complexity into clarity, and building a compelling solution story that demonstrates real understanding of Serco’s capabilities and our customers’ needs. Why join us now? With a clear strategy, and a strong pipeline of bidding activity across sectors, now is a great time to join the team. We’re investing in and evolving how we approach solutioning – moving toward more collaborative, cross-domain models. If you thrive in ambiguity, enjoy solving real-world problems, and want to shape the future of public services, we’d love to hear from you. What you'll do: Design and develop clear, tailored, and costed service delivery solutions – bringing together SMEs, operational leaders, and commercial/finance colleagues. Lead the shaping of early solutions – turning ambiguous requirements into workable, deliverable service models. Work across domains and capabilities – solutions may involve people, process, technology, supply chains, or transformation elements. Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to test assumptions, refine requirements, and strengthen the solution. Work closely with bid writers to create persuasive, customer-focused narratives. Review current services, identify improvements, research trends, and challenge assumptions. Ensure alignment with Serco policies, standards and delivery/technical assurance gates. Understand financial models and pricing inputs to ensure the solution is commercially viable. Operate in a matrix structure – connecting the dots across functions, contracts and capability areas. Who we’re looking for: You might be working now as an Operations Manager, in transformation, change delivery, transition management, or perhaps have had exposure to bidding, service design, or innovation roles within operational contexts. You’ll be someone who learns by doing, not by waiting. Naturally inquisitive but grounded and self-aware. Resilient and composed under pressure – thick-skinned when needed, but collaborative. A confident communicator and connector – able to draw out expertise from across the business and bring people together. Can translate technical, operational, and business language into plain English. Passionate about improving public services and understanding what Serco is great at. Someone on the rise, hungry to grow, but ready to make an impact now. Comfortable working in a matrix organisation. Key skills & experience: A “growth mindset” – open to challenge, development and learning by doing. Comfortable navigating and influencing within large, complex organisations. Able to turn ideas and input from others into a coherent, compelling solution. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in solution development, change/transformation, or innovation – ideally within public sector delivery or complex services is beneficial. Some experience or exposure to bidding processes is beneficial. Why Serco: Meaningful and vital work: In this position, your work is vital to the business, in terms of decisions and growth. You will gain a world of opportunity working for a globally operating business delivering essential services across 5 vital sectors, personal growth, achievement and development won’t be hard to find.
