Job Title: Production Planner/Purchaser
We are recruiting for a key role within the Materials Control team in the Production department of a growing business. This role involves coordinating and reporting on the production fulfilment process to meet production planning schedules. Responsibilities include managing materials shortages for Sales, Project, and Engineering requirements, ensuring timely fulfilment of WIP, and performing some purchasing activities as needed.
The Production Planner/Purchaser will:
1. Monitor the execution of production plans, resolve potential issues, and communicate delays to relevant stakeholders.
2. Investigate production problems, delays, interruptions, and shortages, identify root causes, and provide solutions.
3. Collaborate closely with the Purchasing team to monitor and chase materials.
4. Procure materials and raise purchase orders to fulfill non-standard product requests.
5. Communicate with suppliers to chase outstanding items and escalate issues when necessary.
6. Review and monitor WIP to ensure job completion, reduce open jobs, and ensure transactions are accurately recorded in the system.
7. Coordinate and act on engineering change notes and non-conformities related to materials control.
8. Regularly review standard times, maintain correct routing times, and capture accurate costing data.
9. Participate in improvement activities focusing on balancing customer service levels with cost efficiency.
10. Represent the Production Planning function in meetings related to Sales Orders, Projects, and NPI requirements.
11. Assist in generating and documenting processes, procedures, and KPIs for the materials control function.
Candidate Requirements:
* Proven experience in a Production Planning or Materials Controller role.
* Experience using an MRP system within a planning function.
* Strong Excel skills are essential; experience with Power BI is desirable but not required.
* Previous purchasing experience is a bonus.
