CNC Miller Pay: £40,000 - £45,000 Location: Ampthill Contract: Permanent Hours: 37.5 hours per week Pattern: 4x Flex (4-day week, MondayThursday) Security Clearance: SC (Required to start) The Role We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist (Miller) to join our precision CNC machine shop. This role is ideally suited to a skilled Setter/Operator with strong programming knowledge and hands-on machining experience, capable of producing high-value R&D, one-off, and low-volume precision components. You will work across a range of advanced CNC machine tools, including multi-axis machining centres and turning machines (3 to 6 axis), supporting critical defence programmes in a high-quality, low-volume manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Set, prove out, and operate CNC milling and turning machines in a precision machining environment. Select, optimise, and manage tooling to achieve optimal machining performance and quality. Program and post-process components using various CNC control languages (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain). Manufacture high-value R&D, one-off, and low-volume production components. Support the development and continuous improvement of machining processes, tooling, and fixture design. Liaise with tooling suppliers on tool selection, optimisation, and design solutions. Diagnose machining issues and support corrective action plans. Prioritise workloads to meet delivery commitments and optimise machine utilisation. Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience: Demonstrable experience in a precision CNC machining environment. Strong hands-on CNC milling experience (essential). CNC turning experience (highly desirable). Proficiency in CNC programming and post-processing using Fanuc, Siemens, and Heidenhain controls. Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software such as EdgeCAM, MasterCAM, Fusion 360, or similar. Experience with multi-axis machining (3 to 5 axis).
