Vacancies Clinical Practice Educator (Internal Only)
Role Summary
Working within a large, busy Operating Department, you will deliver theatre‑specific training, assessment, and support to Registered Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, Senior Theatre Assistants, and Theatre Assistants, helping to maintain a skilled, competent, and confident workforce. You will also support Student Nurses, Student Operating Department Practitioners, Medical Students, work‑experience placements, and other learners within the theatre environment.
About the Role
We are seeking a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with experience in theatre and a passion for teaching and supporting others. You need to be able to be flexible, approachable, and work as a role‑model to all staff.
With the addition of our new Hybrid Theatre, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team of Practice Educators across the Trust’s theatre departments, contributing to the development and growth of the workforce while promoting best practice and delivering excellent patient care.
The role will be split between clinical‑based teaching—providing face‑to‑face tuition and support within individual theatres—and non‑clinical time dedicated to education planning and documenting teaching activities. You will also be required to work one clinical day per week as part of the staffing numbers, supporting the department and maintaining your own clinical competencies across all specialities.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours a week, working 1 in 4 weekends.
Additionally, please note: This is an internal vacancy for Royal Devon employees; therefore Bank workers are currently not eligible to apply for this vacancy.
Eligibility and EEO: Preference will be given to staff with ‘Priority’ and At Risk status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon. The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust reserves the right to close vacancy when sufficient applications have been received.
Inclusive Employer Statement: As an inclusive employer, the Royal Devon values diversity and is committed to creating a culture of inclusivity where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging and actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities. We recognise the advantages of having a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
