Our client is a leading provider of material handling solutions, specialising in the supply, maintenance, and repair of forklifts and related equipment. They are now looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to lead their Hampshire workshop team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing daily operations, providing technical guidance, and ensuring high standards of quality and safety across all maintenance and repair activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor, and motivate workshop personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
* Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, including scheduling, task prioritisation, and timely completion of maintenance and repair jobs
* Utilise in-depth knowledge of forklifts and material handling equipment to troubleshoot complex issues and provide technical support to the team
* Maintain high standards of quality and safety in all activities, following industry best practices and regulatory requirements
* Manage workshop inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock of parts and supplies
* Collaborate with sales and service teams to meet customer needs and deliver exceptional service
What we're looking for:
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within forklift maintenance, material handling, or a related technical industry
* Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
* Comprehensive understanding of mechanics and maintenance procedures, including hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and engine diagnostics
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with confidence interacting with customers and colleagues
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
* Collaborative mindset, working closely with colleagues across departments to achieve shared goals
* Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in forklift maintenance or related fields preferred
