We are looking for a Payroll Assistant for a 6-month fixed term contract to support our client in Sunderland.
As a Payroll Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring our staff are paid accurately and on time. Working within a payroll team, you will be responsible for processing payroll data, maintaining employee records, and supporting month-end reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation and processing of monthly payroll for all employees
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (e.g. tax, NI, pensions)
* Update and maintain employee payroll records with accuracy and confidentiality
* Respond to payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner
* Liaise with third parties such as HMRC and pension providers
* Support audit and reconciliation processes as required
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience in a payroll role (preferably within the education sector or a similar environment)
* Familiarity with payroll systems
* Strong numerical skills and high attention to detail
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* A team player who can also work independently
* Knowledge of relevant payroll legislation and best practices
* Experience with education sector payroll processes or systems
* Duration:6 months (fixed term)
* Location:Based in Sunderland, with potential for some hybrid working
