As a B-Corp, Ancient + Brave meets the highest standards of social and environmental Impact. In June 2024 we have been named 5th in The Sunday Times 100 fastest‑growing private companies and we have recently been recognised as one of the FT 1000: Europe's Fastest Growing Companies, 2025.

Want to be a part of a team that’s shaping the future of health and wellbeing?

We'd love to have you!

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, People & Talent who’s happy to get stuck in.

This is very much a roll‑up‑your‑sleeves job. You’ll help shape how we think about people and culture - but you’ll also be the one actually running things day to day.

You’ll report into the People Director and partner closely with them to help shape and deliver the people function as we continue to scale. While there isn’t a large team beneath you, you’ll be working alongside a small but highly passionate and collaborative People Team, including:

* People Director
* EA to the Founder
* Senior Talent Lead
* Talent and Onboarding Executive

This is a hands‑on role in a fast‑growing environment, where processes are still being built and you’ll have real ownership and visibility across the details. With new and varied challenges coming up every day, the role offers constant variety, learning, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact - perfect for someone who enjoys building, problem‑solving, and working at pace.

Some days you’ll be thinking about culture, development and how we grow well. Other days you’ll be answering questions, fixing a process, or sorting payroll. Most days will be a mix of both!

Key Responsibilities

Keeping the Basics Running

* Running the day‑to‑day people function – policies, onboarding, performance, ER queries
* Being the first person people and managers come to with questions or issues
* Dealing with things calmly, fairly and with minimum fuss
* Making sure we’re compliant and consistent as we grow

Payroll

* Overseeing monthly payroll via PayCaptain
* Managing starters, leavers, changes and checks
* Calculating absence adjustments using Humaans (HRIS) reports
* Working with Finance to make sure everyone’s paid correctly and on time
* Fixing things quickly when something goes wrong (because sometimes it will)

Building as We Go

* Noticing what’s clunky or broken and improving it
* Putting simple processes in place that actually work
* Building things that are good enough now, but won’t fall apart in a year
* Automating processes to ensure seamless scaling

Supporting Managers

* Helping managers with the day‑to‑day people issues
* Supporting first‑time managers as they find their feet
* Being a sounding board for tricky conversations – performance, feedback, change
* Bringing perspective and common sense

Looking After the Culture

* Being visible, approachable and trusted
* Calling things out when they don’t feel right, and backing what does
* Helping us scale without becoming corporate or cold
* Making sure how we work stays aligned with what we believe

You’ll probably enjoy this role if:

* You like scale‑up life – pace, change and a bit of mess don’t stress you out
* You’re genuinely happy being hands‑on and operational
* You don’t need everything mapped out before you start
* You’ve got good judgement and a calm way with people
* You care about getting the basics right, because that’s what builds trust

Why This Role Matters

Because a people function only works when it’s properly owned, culture is shaped in the small everyday moments, and growing well means staying human as we scale.

Character/Skills Required

* Resilient
* Sense of Humour
* Problem‑solver
* Roll up sleeves
* Experience working for a founder‑led business
* CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.

Further, to truly thrive at Ancient + Brave you will need to embody the spirit of our brand and align with our company culture. You will be:

* Hungry: Ambitious, driven with a growth mindset, always seeking ways to learn, develop and be better.
* Humble: No ego, collaborative team player, always acts with integrity and clear sense of accountability, aligned with our B-Corp values
* High Performing – Effective. Efficient, with a solid work ethic. Always operates with self‑awareness that enables them to consistently push for exceptional results—while maintaining resilience, balance, and self‑care.
* Hustle: Entrepreneurial. Innovative, fast‑paced, great communicator. Always adept at solving problems and navigating dynamic, ever‑changing situations.

Please Note

* This role requires full time working at our stunning Lewes offices. Please apply only if you’re within a reasonable commute.
* We’re not seeking recruitment support for this role at this time.
