Job Summary
The Great Western Hospital Lung Oncology team offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic nurse with a passion for supporting patients with a cancer diagnosis. The successful applicant will work as an integral part of the CNS and the wider Respiratory and Oncology team, involving them in all aspects of the patient pathway from diagnosis and treatment through to follow up and support for patients living with a lung cancer diagnosis.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a proactive and responsive lung cancer service, coordinating the pathway from pre‑diagnosis, through treatment, and into palliative and end‑of‑life care.
* Act as a key worker for patients, providing expert clinical, psychological, and supportive care.
* Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, and quality assurance in line with national guidance.
Qualifications
* First level registration registered with the NMC.
* Professional knowledge acquired through a degree.
* Specialist academic pathway commenced at level 6 or equivalent qualifications relevant to the specialty, or willingness to undertake.
Desirable Qualifications
* Teaching qualification.
* Management qualification.
* Advanced communication course.
Experience
* Respiratory/oncology nursing experience.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary team working.
* Teaching experience.
* Management experience.
* Ability to communicate with a range of people on a range of matters.
Desirable Experience
* Experience of working at Band 6 level.
* Experience of autonomous working.
