Responsibilities
* Management of client interface meetings and reporting of progress and cost to the CMDP project manager and commercial team representative.
* Manage, supervise, train and mentor site teams to optimise productivity.
* Oversee health & safety and quality data with the site team for reporting purposes.
* Review contractual agreements and develop working methods, programme and forecast costs with the client, contracts manager and suppliers, identifying inaccuracies or inconsistencies.
* Conduct internal project reviews.
* Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual programme and productivity, review weekly, take action where appropriate and report changes to the contracts manager and commercial department.
* Be fully conversant with specialist contract conditions.
* Ensure the programme is positively managed so that specialists provide the required resources and skills without impeding the construction schedule.
* Communicate with the contracts manager, site team and commercial team regarding non‑conformances and contractual correspondence; maintain comprehensive records of additional works and resources employed.
* Maintain a full and accurate daily site diary, including changes, variations, specialist attendance and work‑related discussions with design and site teams.
* Review, approve and enforce inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for work control.
* Keep up to date with developments in the professional field.
* Adhere to Costain policies and procedures.
* Supervise site teams and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrate commitment to Health & Safety and Environmental policy requirements.
* Manage design partners in delivering project specifications and deliverables.
* Lead overall delivery of contracts within the allocated portfolio.
Qualifications
* Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering, a related subject, or an HND in Civil Engineering with vocational training in engineering.
* Understanding of engineering principles.
* Knowledge of construction contract law and standard contract forms through experience and formal training.
* Extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
* Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, document control systems, Primavera).
* Relevant CSCS card.
* Training in health & safety and environmental management.
* Current driving licence.
* Experience with resource management and workforce efficiency.
* Experience with NEC3 or NEC4.
* Water industry experience.
Desirable (the ideal)
* Degree in Civil Engineering.
* MICE qualification.
* MAPM certification.
* Additional computer competence.
* Vocational training and successful experience in project management.
About the Team
Costain are working with Thames Water on a variety of water and wastewater projects and have opportunities for individuals to join our growing AMP7 delivery team. Projects range from smaller capital maintenance to large civil new‑build schemes across the Thames Valley and Thames South regions.
