Overview
Join Travelodge Hotels Limited as the Property Legal Counsel. You will be a core member of the Legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel and providing legal support on property-based projects and deals, while working day-to-day with the Estates team. The role involves assessing risks and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to support growth and successful outcomes.
We are looking for a commercially-minded legal professional to support key business initiatives—including sustainability projects—while providing end-to-end legal support on property matters across a portfolio of over 600 hotels. You will liaise with landlords, agents, sub-tenants, and third parties; advise on acquisitions and integrations; and manage governance and financing requirements. From negotiating property documents to supporting litigation, you will work both independently and cross-functionally to help the business navigate legal challenges and regulatory changes with practical, strategic solutions.
Location: Reading, Slough, Oxford, Milton Keynes and surrounding areas supported by Travelodge.

Responsibilities
* Provide end-to-end legal support on property matters for a portfolio of over 600 hotels.
* Draft, negotiate and review property documents, commercial leases, acquisitions and related agreements.
* Liaise with landlords, agents, sub-tenants and other third parties; manage due diligence and transactions.
* Assess risks, provide practical, strategic legal advice, and communicate with internal stakeholders and external partners.
* Support governance, financing, and regulatory compliance in property matters.
* Assist with litigation support and dispute resolution as required, and contribute to cross-functional initiatives including sustainability projects.
* Work independently and with cross-functional teams to enable business growth and risk management.
Qualifications
* 3+ years’ PQE with a property law background, gained at a good private practice firm or in-house.
* Experience in property acquisitions and a deep understanding of a range of property documentation.
* Experience working for property operators and tenants as well as landlords.
* Ability to make commercial decisions and provide practical advice on contract disputes and interpretation.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-lawyers.
