We seek an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production sites in East Thames Valley.
The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.
Follow robust planned maintenance as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. As well as provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.

* Base Location – Fobney WTW, Reading (RG2 0SF)
* 38 hours per week, Monday-Friday 07:30 am -15:30 pm, plus standby rota for additional payment.
* All PPE, tools, plus a van when on duty and call.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
* Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs efficiently to prevent process interruptions.
* Diagnose complex faults and perform repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to technical knowledge, and support trainees if needed.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, measurement systems, PLCs, drives, and chemical handling equipment.
* Participate in standby rota following training.
* Complete License to operate and learn water treatment processes.
What you should bring to the role
* 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds certification.
* Significant experience in electrical systems, ideally with an apprenticeship.
* NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering is a plus.
* Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, and repairing electrical plant equipment.
* Experience with large pumps, actuated valves, VSDs, and switchgear.
* Health and safety awareness relevant to the industry.
* Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces (training provided).
* Full UK driving license.
