We seek an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production sites in East Thames Valley.
The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair electrical equipment.
Follow robust planned maintenance as well as get involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24/7.
Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions. Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if required.
Details
* Base Location – Fobney WTW, Reading (RG2 0SF)
* 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday 07:30-15:30, plus standby rota with additional pay
* All PPE, tools, and a van provided when on duty and call
Responsibilities
* Investigate and repair plant failures efficiently to prevent process disruptions
* Diagnose complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents
* Provide technical advice and support trainees as needed
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control gear, VSD, control systems, valves, flow, level, pressure sensors, PLCs, variable speed drives, and chemical handling equipment
* Participate in standby rota post-training
* Complete License to Operate and learn water treatment processes
Qualifications and Experience
* 18th Edition Electrical City and Guilds certification is essential
* Apprenticeship with significant electrical experience in a multi-skilled role
* NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical engineering (preferred but not essential)
* Experience with electrical plant maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing, and repair
* Experience with large pumps, actuated valves, VSD, and switchgear is essential
* Knowledge of health and safety standards
* Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces (training provided)
* Full UK driving license required
