About the Pupils:

Our pupils all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and primarily present with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or autism-related traits. Many also experience additional challenges, including:

4. Anxiety, demand avoidance, and emotional-based school avoidance
5. Learning difficulties including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)

Role Overview:

As an HLTA, you will support the teaching team by delivering tailored learning activities, leading small group or whole-class lessons when required, and providing specialist support to children with a range of needs. Your work will be integral to promoting an inclusive, nurturing, and structured learning environment.

You will collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure each child's educational, emotional, and social development is supported effectively.

Key Responsibilities as a HLTA:

6. Deliver engaging lessons and interventions in line with individual education plans
7. Support pupils' communication, social skills, and emotional regulation
8. Implement behaviour management strategies with empathy and consistency
9. Work 1:1 or with small groups to support learning and development
10. Monitor and record pupil progress, adapting support as needed
11. Contribute to planning and school development activities
12. Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment

Ideal Candidate:

13. HLTA qualified or with equivalent experience in a specialist educational setting
14. Experience working with primary-aged children with Autism and associated needs
15. Strong understanding of SEMH, sensory processing, and communication difficulties
16. Confident in delivering lessons and managing challenging behaviours
17. Compassionate, patient, and skilled in building positive relationships
18. Committed to ongoing professional development and team collaboration

Benefits:

19. Long-term role with potential to become permanent
20. Supportive team environment focused on therapeutic and inclusive practice
21. Access to ongoing training and professional development
22. Term-time working for excellent work-life balance
