About This Role
We are seeking to appoint a passionate and committed Teacher of English to join our successful English department. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is dedicated to inspiring a love of literature and language, and to securing outstanding outcomes for students of all abilities.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across the age and ability range, contribute to curriculum development, and play a full role in the wider life of the school. You will be committed to inclusive practice, high expectations and continuous professional improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Teaching and Learning: Deliver well-planned, challenging and inspiring lessons that align with Trust and school curriculum expectations.
* Teaching and Learning: Support students to manage their own learning effectively and achieve ambitious outcomes.
* Teaching and Learning: Maintain high standards of classroom practice, including assessment, feedback and behaviour management.
* Assessment and Progress: Use formative and summative assessment to track progress, inform planning and identify appropriate interventions.
* Assessment and Progress: Provide constructive feedback that enables students to improve and reach their potential.
* Assessment and Progress: Communicate regularly with parents and carers about student progress, targets and next steps.
* Behaviour and Wellbeing: Uphold and model the Trust’s Behaviour, Safeguarding and Inclusion policies to ensure the wellbeing of all students.

Maiden Erlegh School (MES)
Maiden Erlegh School is a highly successful comprehensive school for students aged 11–18, located in Lower Earley, near Reading. Relationships between students and staff are extremely positive, and students are keen, curious, respectful and ambitious.
Academic outcomes continue to improve year on year, with the school placing in the top 50 schools nationally for Progress 8, alongside a thriving sixth form.
