We’re looking for a Financial Accountant/Trainee Accountant to join our Group Finance function, supporting the Ledger Close team. This is a great opportunity for a qualified accountant or someone studying towards an accounting qualification who wants hands on experience within a complex financial environment.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records across Royal London, contributing to ledger control, reconciliations, analysis and continuous improvement through automation and smarter use of systems. Alongside your day to day responsibilities, you’ll build your technical knowledge and develop towards becoming a subject matter expert across a number of processes.
About the role
• Prepare and maintain accounting records, supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger across Group entities.
• Undertake and develop complex balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Produce and process journals to support financial close and reporting activities.
• Deliver high quality data analysis to support the integrity of financial records and respond to supplementary reporting requirements.
• Support business change and improvement initiatives, including automation and process enhancement.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business, escalating issues where appropriate and contributing to shared objectives.
About you
• Completed / studying towards a recognised accounting qualification.
• Experience or strong working knowledge of general ledger processes, ideally within a large or complex organisation.
• Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel capability; confident using Word and PowerPoint.
• An interest in systems and process improvement, with the ability to understand and suggest efficiencies.
• A proactive self starter who can manage their own workload, meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Clear and confident communicator, able to explain financial information and analysis to a range of stakeholders.
