Location: Fully Office-Based (with travel across the borough) Duration: Temporary contract until 1 June 2026 Rate: £21.69 per hour DBS: Basic required Start Date: ASAP About the Role Were seeking an experienced Repairs and Maintenance Surveyor with strong expertise in Damp and Mould investigations to join our Property Services team. This role provides vital support while a permanent team member transitions into a new position. Youll be responsible for inspecting housing stock, diagnosing issues, producing technical reports, and liaising with contractors, tenants, and stakeholders to ensure timely and effective repairs in line with legislative and organisational standards. Key Responsibilities Carry out property inspections and surveys, with a focus on damp, mould, and disrepair cases. Complete reports and documentation using an iPad provided. Liaise with contractors, residents, and internal teams to coordinate repair works. Ensure all inspections meet targets aligned with the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2026, Awaabs Law, and HHSRS. Maintain accurate digital records of housing stock and update relevant systems. Contribute to developing and implementing best practices for damp and disrepair management. Represent the council in relation to disrepair claims, acting as an expert witness when required. What Were Looking For Proven experience as a Surveyor within repairs and maintenance or social housing. Strong knowledge of damp, mould, and disrepair legislation and best practice. Ability to diagnose building defects and recommend technical solutions. Confident communicator with report-writing skills. Proficient in IT systems (Excel, Outlook, databases, etc.). Holds a Level 4 qualification (HNC/NVQ) or significant equivalent experience. Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential). Willingness to undertake HHSRS training if not already completed. Why Apply?
