Please note: This role is initially on a 12-month contract, with a high likelihood of being made permanent.

Hartmann Young is partnered with an innovative diagnostics company based out of Hove, whose mission is to deliver high-quality, reliable products that make a real difference to patient care and safety. With collaboration, compliance, and continuous improvement at their core, the team is seeking a Quality Control Technician with a background in engineering to join the business.

The Role

We're looking for a QC Technician to join an experienced Quality team and support inspection and testing activities as the company scales up for clinical readiness. The role will focus on hands-on quality checks of components and assemblies, with emphasis on plastics (thermoforming, injection moulding), PCBs, adhesives, labels, and manufacturing processes such as laser welding, cutting, and printing.

* Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of components, subassemblies, and finished products;
* Carry out visual, dimensional, and functional checks on plastics, PCB assemblies, adhesives, and labels against drawings and specifications;
* Support QC testing of parts produced using EVM, LVDO, laser welding, cutting, and printing techniques;
* Accurately record inspection results and maintain documentation in line with quality system requirements (ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820);
* Identify and report nonconformance, escalating issues to engineers or senior Quality staff;
* Assist with preparation of documentation for audits and regulatory requirements;
* Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant lab/production environment.

The Requirements

* Previous experience in QC, inspection, or a related technical role within medical devices, electronics, plastics, or other regulated manufacturing environments;
* Working knowledge of plastics manufacturing methods (thermoforming, injection moulding) and associated inspection techniques;
* Familiarity with PCB assemblies, adhesives, and labelling processes;
* Exposure to manufacturing processes such as laser welding, cutting, and printing;
* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications;
* Competent in the use of measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.);
* Strong attention to detail and documentation skills;
* Awareness of ISO 13485 is an advantage but not essential.
