About the role
As a tutor you coach and mentor each learner, building confidence, inspiring curiosity, and delivering meaningful learning experiences. You’ll deliver tailored sessions using our smart learning tool, Compass, facilitate learning through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching. You'll create a safe, inspiring environment and support progress through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and manage lessons that last using Compass, facilitating learning through questioning and scaffolding.
* Build meaningful relationships with a 16 ratio, creating a safe environment where children take risks.
* Support academic progress through the national curriculum, 11+ entrance exams and GCSE preparation.
Requirements
* Age 16 or older with the right to work in the UK.
* Achieved a grade 6 or higher in Maths & English at GCSE level (or equivalent).
* Confident leading small group sessions and inspiring children.
* Comfortable supporting children aged 4‑16 across the national curriculum.
* Committed to building long‑term relationships and prioritising safety and wellbeing.
Location and Contract
This is an on‑site role based at our Brixton centre. It is a permanent, part‑time position working a minimum of 6 hours a week across at least two weekdays. Shift start times: 3:30‑4pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; morning/afternoon Saturday.
Pay and Progression
* Under 18: £8.40 per hour.
* 18‑20: £10.90 per hour.
* 21+: £12.75 per hour.
* Additional 50p per hour if working at a centre inside the M25. Training and induction hours are paid.
