Wood Process & Energy is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Construction Engineer to join our onshore projects team in Glasgow on a permanent staff basis.

Job Objectives:
7. Provide advanced constructability input to engineering and construction execution by optimizing construction knowledge and experience to reduce construction costs, improve quality, safety, and productivity, shorten construction schedules, and reduce or eliminate construction inefficiencies
8. Assist with the development of the project construction execution plan, proposals, bid submissions, construction methodology and strategies. Provide construction technical support to the customer and the Wood discipline engineering team, throughout the FEED, detailed design, and where required execution phases of a project
9. Work with project controls in developing the build sequence/construction schedule and proactively risk managing of the schedule
10. Provide input to the contracting strategy during bid clarification and bid evaluation process
11. Act as senior team member in the construction team, guiding conversion of engineering designs into construction work packs and overseeing work of others. Responsible for the development of construction deliverables to the required technical standards to support and facilitate site construction activities
Key Responsibilities
12. Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution
13. Responsible for delivery of construction work packs which give clear activity breakdown and detailed narratives for all construction activities
14. Contribute discipline experience to the ongoing development of project work methods, processes, and team development
15. Carry out a constructability review of all work scopes, work packs, resolving minor issues and escalating more serious issues to more senior construction staff or relevant engineering discipline. This will include input at scope survey and engineering stage
16. Deliver against agreed planned work scopes ensuring obligations are met by way of timely completion of construction deliverable
17. If identified, react to change in scope, inform necessary parties and complete the necessary change management documentation
18. Check installation quality and subsequent verification are completed in accordance with requirements
19. Participate in audits and incident investigations as required
20. Contributes to assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
21. Assisting where required with the delivery and timely execution of the project/contract/service and ensure the contract requirements are satisfied
22. Ensure quality requirements are understood and complied with and support preparation of quality plans and documents in accordance with the relevant project, statutory and legislative requirements
Knowledge, skills and experience:
23. Appropriate level of construction experience in relevant industry sector
24. Have a broad and deep technical knowledge of construction discipline and associated processes
25. Ability to identify risk to delivery and build in mitigation / contingency plans
26. Substantial experience of interpreting discipline documentation
27. Sound knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments (RA), Hazard and Operability Studies, Hazard in Construction (HAZCON) Studies
28. Substantial knowledge and understanding of technical specifications. Extensive experience in construction engineering, particularly on onshore energy projects
29. Understands the business drivers within customer organisations and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and cost-effective solutions
Qualifications and Requirements:
30. Typically, minimum qualified to Level 5 (technical diploma / apprenticeship) or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
31. In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and construction best practices
