Job Purpose
Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support the team in solving complex organisational and engineering/operational challenges and to:
* Provide engineering and management resource to direct, supervise and support all project-related operations.
* Plan, develop and implement all activities associated with the efficient and profitable running of the assigned projects.
* Ensure technical compliance of the project engineering during design, procurement, modelling, drawing and installation activities in line with the agreed project brief, specification and industry standards/regulations.
Standards
* Ensure that all mechanical project engineering activities are undertaken in compliance with relevant standards and legislation through appropriate formal procedures.
* Liaise with other support departmental personnel, if necessary, to obtain any advice that may be required.
Operational / Engineering Procedures
* Plan and undertake the project workload and allocate specific tasks to appointed personnel associated with the project, in conjunction with direction from the Senior Project Manager.
* Review and interpret proposed designs, drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, functional requirements and recognised standards. Initiate revisions where appropriate and advise the Senior Project Manager of any shortfalls. Work with the design team to ensure purchasing economy is engineered into the project.
* Ensure that project engineering activities comply with design specifications and applicable standards and regulations.
* Monitor project deliverables and direct work sequencing to expedite project delivery in line with the agreed works programme.
* Carry out design checks on external and internal consultant designs to ensure compliance, suitability and commissioning requirements are met.
* Ensure compliant pricing is obtained through quotations for plant, equipment and sub-contract packages prior to procurement.
* Compile technical sub-contract and plant/equipment enquiries with detailed scope and compliance requirements to enable detailed bid analysis.
* Prepare detailed technical submittals to obtain approval prior to procurement of project plant and equipment.
* Attend model reviews and carry out drawing reviews and mark-ups to ensure final drawings are fully detailed, technically compliant and suitable for installation.
* Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal response to quotation requests and delivery requirements.
* Identify key sub-contract packages of work with reference to the original tender where appropriate. Arrange and attend sub-contract reviews, meetings and appointments, liaising with the Project Quantity Surveyor as required.
* Monitor and coordinate work undertaken by junior engineers and directly employed, agency, loan or sub-contract labour.
* Represent the business at meetings with customers, consultants, sub-contractors and other relevant organisations as directed by the Senior Project Manager.
* Inspect and monitor the quality of installed works, review zero defects reports, ensure compliance with specifications and drawings, and monitor site health and safety reports.
* Research and prepare reports relating to individual project performance and other issues as required.
* Consider overall M&E working relationships to ensure effective coordination of resources, materials and plant, recognising the requirements of both trades.
* Coordinate with team members, colleagues and sub-contractors to ensure smooth workflow and project progress
