Applications are invited for a Research Assistant/Research Associate in Viral Computational Genomics at the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine (DIDE-SPH), Imperial College London.
This post is for a Research Assistant/Associate in Viral Computational Genomics within the Dengue and Zika Immunology and Genomics Multi-Country Network (DeZi Network), a new Wellcome Trust-funded collaboration with the World Health Organization, national Ministries of Health and research institutions across 24 countries to understand dengue and Zika virus circulation and interaction ().
The role is central to a major international effort to understand and combat arboviral threats (such as Dengue and Zika), with direct contributions to global health policy and outbreak preparedness. The successful candidate will drive the development and application of advanced analytical tools, set new standards in genomic epidemiology, and contribute to vaccine design and global arbovirus response.
1. PhD or equivalent in computational virology, bioinformatics, or related quantitative discipline.
2. Emerging international profile or clear potential for leadership in bioinformatics and/or phylogenetics, evidenced by good scientific outputs (., peer-reviewed publications, preprints, or tool development), commensurate with career stage.
3. Proven experience in evolutionary analysis of sequence data, including phylogenetic and phylodynamic methods.
4. Experience leading international research collaborations or working groups.
Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant.
