We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated nurse with broad clinical experience to join our senior Outpatient team at Frimley South. Our Outpatient service is dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centred care — and we’re passionate about continually evolving to meet the needs of our community. As part of our leadership team, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our service, supporting colleagues, and ensuring an excellent experience for every patient who walks through our doors. We’re looking for someone who brings strong organisational and leadership skills, along with a warm, collaborative approach. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you’ll be supporting staff, coordinating activity across multiple sites, and combining hands-on clinical work with a variety of administrative and supervisory responsibilities. You will be primarily based either with the Frimley South onsite team or our offsite team — but we operate as one cohesive, supportive unit. The role spans all Frimley South Outpatient locations, including Aldershot Centre for Health, Fleet Community Hospital, and Frimley Park Hospital. Our sites operate between 08:00 and 18:30, Monday to Saturday, giving you a varied and engaging working week. Main duties of the job To work clinically providing visible leadership, direction, co-ordination, and forward planning of Outpatient Department (OPD) services within the Frimley Health Outpatient nursing team. You will serve as a prominent role model, leading by example, fostering a culture of respect, belonging, and psychological safety within the team, where staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute. Demonstrate diverse expert clinical skills, clear professional and organisational values while overseeing the OPD areas. Manage service needs and provide support to the Senior OPD team. In conjunction with Practice Development (PD), you will assess and actively support the Registered Nurses (RN) and Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) to practice competently and develop within their roles to ensure a high standard of care and patient experience are maintained in line with the Frimley Health Strategy, Vision, and Values. To provide Band 6 cover for a 6-day service at designated Frimley Health Outpatient locations as required, co-ordinating capacity and flow within the departments. To deputise and take on the role of Bronze Command for Senior Sister and Matron in their absence, maintaining an organised and structured workforce. To adhere to the standards outlined in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and RN competencies. To be a dynamic, enthusiastic, highly motivated, visible, professional, and clinical role model for others. To lead the nursing team, displaying exceptional leadership and the highest standards of clinical competence. Inspiring others, facilitating change using a range of strategies that demonstrate excellence in nursing practice, empathy, and professionalism. To support, supervise and assess all learners, students, temporary, new, and junior staff within the departments. Collaborate with Practice Development to assess, actively support, and facilitate registered nurses and health care support workers in practicing competently and advancing in their roles. Consolidate, enhance, and broaden own knowledge and clinical skills proficiency, furthering own professional development. RGN with current UK NMC registration Supporting Learners in Practice (SLIP) or similar recognised qualification. Desirable criteria Educated to Nursing Degree level or on degree pathway. Level 6 leadership course Yellow Belt Training (Lean Competency System. Experience Essential criteria Previous experience in an acute healthcare Trust. Nurse in charge training Evidence of proven recent leadership experience within an acute healthcare setting. Desirable criteria Evidence of Band 6 generic clinical and Nurse in Charge (NiC) competencies. Experience within an Outpatients setting. leadership Essential criteria Ability to lead, facilitate and embed change within the working environment. Able to prioritise workload and effectively manage a clinical area. Effectively facilitate the supervision and assessment of learners and junior staff. Desirable criteria Evidence of previous Band 6 experience Level 6 leadership course. Yellow Belt Training (Lean Competency System) Supporting Learners in Practice (SLIP) or similar recognised qualification. Skills Essential criteria Able to prioritise workload and effectively manage a clinical area Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to manage conflict/ difficult/ stressful situations, working calmly and effectively under pressure Effective time management, organisation, prioritisation, and delegation. Effectively facilitate the supervision and assessment of learners and junior staff. Desirable criteria Excellent Computer skills, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word.
