Job Overview
The Health Protection and Immunisation Co‑ordinator plays a vital role in the safe, effective, and high‑quality delivery of immunisation and sampling services. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM STAFF CURRENTLY EMPLOYED BY HYWEL DDA UNIVERSITY HEALTH BOARD The role involves overseeing day‑to‑day operations across vaccination centres, testing sites, patients’ homes, residential and nursing homes, clinics, and hospital environments. The post holder supervises and supports the vaccination and sampling teams, ensuring staff are trained, competent, and equipped to deliver services efficiently and compassionately. The role works closely with the Lead Nurse for Health Protection and Immunisations to develop and implement a high‑quality immunisation service aligned with Welsh Government KPIs. Full‑time hours are preferred but part‑time arrangements of 30 hours are acceptable.
Main duties of the job
* Prioritise and organise workload to ensure tasks are completed within required timescales, demonstrating flexibility and sound clinical judgement during outbreak situations.
* Collaborate with General Practitioners, clinicians, managers and administrators, communicating sensitive and confidential information such as patient data and immunisation uptake figures.
* Act as a trusted source of expertise and provide specialist advice on vaccination and immunisation programmes to healthcare professionals and the public.
* Attend meetings with Health Board stakeholders, Public Health Wales and HPORG, contributing to regional health strategies and policies.
* Play an active role in clinical standards, reviewing protocols and advising on policy updates to improve vaccination and sampling services across the region.
