Role purpose:
We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Merchandise Planner reporting into the Supply Chain Director, to join our Merchandising team. This role is critical in driving forecast accuracy, optimising stock and cash flow, and collaborating closely with Sales, Buying and Finance to ensure aligned and effective demand planning.
You will play a key role in managing demand plans across branded and own-brand products, ensuring forecasts are robust, actionable, and aligned with business targets.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyse and review monthly sales forecasts at customer and SKU level, using statistical models and error analysis to improve forecast accuracy.
* Develop SKU-level forecasts using historical data and Sales inputs to guide purchasing decisions and optimise service levels.
* Continuously analyse demand signals including POS data, targets and customer feedback to enhance forecast performance.
* Manage stock value, quality and terminal stock to improve stock turn and deliver cost-effective clearance strategies.
* Optimise inventory and cash flow by working with suppliers to right-size MOQs and balance supply with demand.
* Collaborate with Sales and Finance to align forecasts with budgets and financial planning requirements.
* Build strong working relationships with Buying, Sales, Distribution, Quality and suppliers to support aligned planning and execution.
* Establish planning processes, KPIs and reporting, including root cause analysis and performance insights.
* Lead or support demand planning and forecasting projects.
* Drive improvements in systems, tools and planning methodologies.
* Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Macros).
* Experience with merchandising or demand planning software/ERP systems.
* Retail or E-Commerce forecasting and critical path experience.
* SAP experience is desirable.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Confident stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
Essential Experience
* 2–3 years' experience in Merchandising, Demand Forecasting or Supply Chain Planning.
* Experience in FMCG, housewares, retail or E-Commerce.
* Experience planning large SKU ranges across multiple channels.
* Experience with owned, sourced and third party brands.
* Strong experience in forecasting, WSSI and OTB.
* Experience working with Far East supplier bases.
