Join a Global Leader in Innovation – Platform Development Manager Opportunity
Are you ready to shape the future of next-generation products? Imperial Brands, a dynamic and inclusive global FMCG business powered by 25,000 talented individuals, is seeking a Platform Development Manager to join our EVP/HT Category Innovation Team.
In this pivotal role, you’ll lead a team of Subject Matter Experts and drive the development of cutting-edge devices across our New Product Development pipeline. Reporting to the Head of HT/EVP Category R&D, you’ll play a central role in delivering breakthrough innovations that define the future of our category.
Principle Accountabilities
1. Led a multidisciplinary team of Device Development Engineers to deliver prototypes and technical solutions for innovation projects, acting as the technical authority across mechanical and electronic engineering disciplines.
2. Directed the technical delivery of critical projects within the EVP and HT spaces, ensuring alignment with design briefs, functional performance, and regulatory standards.
3. Managed end-to-end product development, from concept generation and iterative prototyping to testing and validation, while fostering collaboration with internal teams and strategic external partners.
4. Provided strategic insight into emerging technologies and industry trends, informing future product pipelines and driving continuous improvement in design processes and cost efficiency.
5. Built and maintained strong supplier relationships, enabling access to cutting-edge technologies and supporting the transition from prototype to full-scale production.
6. Line managed a high-performing engineering team, overseeing resource planning, professional development, and compliance with safety, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Skills and Experience Required
7. Degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering (or equivalent)
8. Practical (hands on) experience in electro-mechanical workshop environment – assembly, test equipment, etc
9. Creation of technical documentation and test reports, etc
10. Line management of technical SME’s
11. New Product Introduction (NPI) product development and delivery
