About the Role
A respected building services consultancy with 45 years of experience delivering sustainable, value-engineered solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Winchester office. You’ll lead mechanical systems design across a broad range of projects—residential, commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial—on schemes from small-scale to £100m developments
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and domestic water system design from feasibility through to construction
2. Use TAS for dynamic thermal modelling and AutoCAD/Revit for detailed 2D/3D coordinated outputs
3. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring integrated low-carbon and energy-efficient solutions
4. Mentor and guide junior engineers while contributing to internal QA reviews
5. Provide specialist input into pre-planning energy/sustainability reports and Part L/F compliance assessments
6. Visit sites to verify installation accuracy and support technical coordination
7. Engage with clients and contractors throughout delivery and oversee value-engineering initiatives
What You’ll Bring
8. Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
9. Chartered status (CEng, IMechE/CIBSE) or actively working towards it
10. 6+ years’ experience designing mechanical building services in consultancy
11. Proficiency in mechanical design software including TAS, AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp
12. Strong understanding of UK regulations (Part L & Part F, CIBSE guidelines) and sustainable engineering practices
13. Excellent leadership, communication, and project management abilities
14. A proactive, structured mindset capable of delivering complex projects to high quality and budget standards
