The Glasgow School for Business and Society (GSBS) integrates business studies, law, and social sciences, focusing on global citizenship, responsible leadership, entrepreneurship, and social justice. Our research addresses inclusive societies, social justice, equalities, communities, social innovation, and public policy.
The Department of Social Sciences is a dynamic, multidisciplinary group comprising criminologists, historians, political scientists, and sociologists. We are committed to research and teaching excellence, public engagement, and community empowerment, all underpinned by our commitment to the Common Good. The department hosts three interdisciplinary research groups: The Scottish Poverty and Inequality Research Unit (SPIRU), The Gender Research and Equalities Network (GREeN), and The Social, Criminal and Legal Justice Research Group (SCaLe). We also host the Scottish Cold Case Unit, a staff/student initiative reviewing missing person cold cases.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Criminology to deliver teaching and learning in criminology and related areas, undertake research and publish in high-quality journals, and develop the department's profile both nationally and internationally. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision across the Social Sciences. A key responsibility will be leading the development of civic engagement and work placement opportunities in criminology/criminal justice, leveraging opportunities provided by the Scottish Cold Case Unit.
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD (or near completion/equivalent) in a relevant discipline, with experience in teaching and supervising criminology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Experience in module and teaching administration, research expertise in a relevant area, and the ability to develop inclusive and accessible teaching resources are also required.
