What youll do
As an Assistant Accountant, your role will be integral to the smooth operation of our client\s accountancy practice. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks from manual double entry bookkeeping to drafting financial statements for various business entities. Your excellent communication skills will be put to use as you liaise with clients and HMRC to resolve queries and ensure compliance. Your ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously will be key in this fast-paced role.
* Perform manual double entry bookkeeping
* Conduct bank reconciliations
* Prepare working papers to trial balance level, including prepayments, accruals and depreciation
* Communicate with clients to resolve accounting/bookkeeping issues
* Complete VAT returns and submit tax returns
* Draft financial statements for various business entities
* Communicate with HMRC online to set up PAYE schemes and VAT registrations
* Resolve queries with HMRC both by telephone and online
