Role Overview
As an Engineer within the Civil Engineering Team, you will be a subject matter expert at Drax Power Station. You will be accountable for technical excellence and making key engineering decisions. Your responsibilities include liaising with and managing a large consultancy and contractor resource.

About the Role
You will support the Lead Engineer in delivering the Business Plan and contribute to developing strategies to maintain aging assets and construct new civil infrastructure. You will be a key team member, supporting colleagues and acting as a point of contact for civil engineering inquiries. Your role includes managing internal and external stakeholders, producing specifications and project scopes, ensuring work packages meet standards, and managing risks.
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative, statutory, corporate, and site policies, with a strong focus on commercial and contract management. This includes negotiating and tendering contracts, specifying work, conducting risk assessments, and supervising contractor work. Flexibility and the ability to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment are essential.
About You
You should be technically competent, capable of reviewing designs, calculation packs, and methodologies aligned with British Standards, Eurocodes, and Temporary Works. Previous experience in design, either as a consultant or design manager within the construction industry managing civil infrastructure and building projects, is required. Excellent communication skills, stakeholder management, and a relevant university degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent are also essential.
