The Role 🎯
We are seeking a skilled Technical Manager to lead our site’s technical function. You will ensure all products meet food safety, quality, and legal requirements, while driving a strong food safety culture across the business.
Key responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and develop the technical team, ensuring collaboration across Technical, NPD, Production, and Commercial departments.
* Represent the business in customer meetings and audits, interpret codes of practice, and maintain strong technical communication.
* Ensure compliance with BRCGS Food Safety Standards, lead internal audits, oversee TACCP/VACCP processes, and drive corrective actions.
* Approve and maintain product specifications, oversee QAS, and ensure packaging artwork meets technical and customer standards.
* Manage supplier approval systems, review specifications, and support procurement decisions.
* Deliver KPIs, audits, and reports, ensuring robust food safety and quality systems.

Qualifications & Experience 🎓
* Proven track record as a Technical Manager in a food‑related FMCG environment (essential).
* Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or equivalent experience.
* Excellent knowledge of HACCP, BRCGS, and retailer codes of practice.
* Strong knowledge of food legislation standards.
* Experience with raw material approval, supplier management, and product specifications.
* Strong technical writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Strong leadership and organisational skills.
* Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making ability.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Flexible, self‑motivated, and committed to personal development.
