Job overview
We seek Mental Health Care Assistants for temporary, as-needed work to support our team in achieving the Trust's mission of "Best care by the best people."
You will assist clinical teams in nursing and rehabilitation care, working with qualified staff. Your role includes implementing care and rehabilitation programs, helping patients regain confidence, and respecting their beliefs and choices. You will embody the Trust’s values and engage with patients and families with empathy and compassion.
Applicants must have an NHS Care Certificate or be a second-year or above student nurse.

Main duties of the job
1. Support clinical teams in nursing and rehabilitation care alongside qualified staff.
2. Implement care and rehabilitation programs, helping patients regain confidence and independence.
3. Ensure service users engage with their Care Plans and access appropriate services.
4. Liaise with other agencies involved in patient care.
5. Develop rapport and therapeutic relationships with service users.
6. Provide practical support to service users and carers to promote independence and dignity.
7. Facilitate orientation for new clients and support their settling in.
8. Assist nursing staff in delivering care.
9. Record dietary, fluid intake, and vital signs as required.
10. Maintain patient areas in good order.
11. Escort patients to appointments inside and outside the hospital.
