The budgeted salary for this role is between £22,000 - £25,000 per annum.
Job Purpose
The Desktop Engineer role provides onsite support services for IT projects, incidents, and requests to multiple Advania UK clients. The position also includes technical support and guidance for end users and colleagues as needed.
Responsibilities
* Manage and support desktop environments to ensure secure and efficient operation of endpoints throughout the organisation.
* Use tools such as Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, and Defender for Endpoint to maintain device compliance, security, and user productivity.
* Provide technical support for desktop systems, applications, and end users; assist with device management under supervision.
* Support Microsoft 365 services (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive) and assist with identity and access management via Entra ID.
* Monitor device security and report issues through Defender for Endpoint; follow all organizational security policies and procedures.
* Maintain accurate documentation, including asset and configuration records; log time spent on tasks and projects in detail.
* Manage assigned tickets and tasks to completion; update status in the ticketing system and support onsite teams, troubleshoot hardware, and perform hardware replacements.
Qualifications and Skills
* Cloud technologies: Microsoft Intune and Azure; knowledge of their fundamental capabilities is desirable; certifications are a plus but not essential.
* Productivity applications: Microsoft 365 & Office 365; basic understanding of these is expected.
* Workstation hardware and peripherals; experience with installing and downloading applications; training provided but awareness is important.
* Good implementation skills and knowledge in laptop builds, mobile setup and hardware replacement; this is desirable but not essential.
* Demonstrated passion for customer service; act as an ambassador for Advania UK and the client.
* Flexibility to work weekends and other out-of-hours duties if required and be a strong team player when facing deadlines.
Other Requirements
* A full clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel to remote sites throughout the UK.
* Practical ability to mount monitors, access points, etc.; training will be provided where required.
* Willingness to take ownership of IT queries and manage them through to completion with other parties.
* Contribute as an active team member and help achieve personal and team objectives.
* Undertake other tasks as assigned by management that may not be implementation or project centric.
* Regular drug and alcohol testing may be required.
* BPSS and DBS checks will be sponsored by Advania UK if required.
Specific Role Responsibilities
* Under the guidance of the operations team, deliver or partially deliver related project tasks, incidents, and functional user support as per customer requirements.
* Provide technical support for desktop systems and end users.
* Assist with device management using Microsoft Intune under supervision.
* Support Microsoft 365 services (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive).
* Learn and assist with identity and access management via Entra ID.
* Monitor device security and report issues through Defender for Endpoint.
* Follow all organizational security policies and procedures.
* Work with senior IT staff to resolve issues and support projects.
* Maintain accurate documentation, including asset and configuration records.
* Log time spent on tasks and projects in detail; manage assigned tickets and tasks to completion.
* Support onsite teams, troubleshoot hardware, and perform hardware replacements.
