We are looking for a motivated and detail-focused Bookkeeper to join our team. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping activities, including VAT returns and management accounts, whilst supporting the Client Portfolio Lead and contributing to the continuous improvement of processes.
You will support the smooth running and continued growth of the business through the following key areas:
Bookkeeping and Financial Reporting:
* Manage the processing of client paperwork and records using cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online (QBO), Sage, and KashFlow.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns, including partial exemption and Flat Rate Scheme (FRS) calculations.
* Produce accurate management accounts and financial reports.
* Review bookkeeping data to identify anomalies or issues, escalating findings to the Client Portfolio Lead.
Operational Efficiency:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in internal systems.
* Contribute to the improvement and standardisation of bookkeeping workflows.
* Support the adoption of cloud-based systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Compliance and Technical Knowledge:
* Stay updated on VAT regulations, MTD requirements, GDPR, and other relevant technical developments.
* Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and internal policies.
* Contribute to process reviews to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
General Administration:
* Prepare letters, reports, and other documents as required.
* Ensure records are complete and audit-ready.
To be successful you will have:
* Proven experience in bookkeeping within an accountancy practice or similar environment
* Strong knowledge of VAT, including partial exemption and FRS
* Proficiency in cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, KashFlow; certifications desirable)
* Experience preparing management accounts and financial reporting
* Familiarity with MTD requirements and GDPR compliance
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* A proactive, problem-solving approach with a focus on accuracy and quality
