About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Lawyer to join the firm as a Partner, with the flexibility to work from either Bristol or Wales. This role is a replacement for a departing partner and offers the chance to play a key role in shaping the future of the firm's growing construction practice.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both contentious and non-contentious construction law, with a focus on client development and providing high-level legal counsel. This position offers the unique opportunity for a salary partner to transition into equity, with the firm offering equity as a gift, not a purchase.
Responsibilities will include managing contentious construction cases, overseeing the drafting and negotiation of complex construction contracts, and providing strategic legal guidance to clients, particularly within the developer sector. The role also involves business development, fostering long-term client relationships, and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
1.
Dispute Management: Lead contentious construction cases, utilizing dispute resolution methods such as arbitration and mediation.

Contractual Matters: Draft and negotiate complex construction contracts, including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke agreements.
3.
Client Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, particularly in the developer sector.
4.
Strategic Legal Guidance: Provide expert legal advice on construction law, covering risk management, compliance, and contract oversight.
5.
Team Development: Collaborate with partners and junior lawyers to ensure smooth workflow and provide mentorship.
6.
Business Development: Contribute to the growth of the construction practice through client development and identifying new market opportunities.
About the Candidate
7.
Qualified Solicitor/Barrister: Minimum of 10 years PQE in construction law, with experience in both contentious and non-contentious construction matters.
8.
Leadership & Autonomy: Proven ability to manage complex cases independently and take a leadership role within a team.
9.
Client-Focused: Strong ability to develop and sustain client relationships, particularly in the developer sector.

Commercial & Strategic Insight: A deep understanding of the financial and operational aspects of construction projects.

Adaptable & Collaborative: Comfortable with hybrid working arrangements and working across offices.
