Childcare Assistant
6.5 hours a day (32.5 hours per week) – 8:00am to 3:00pm, 5 days a week during Term Time plus 5 training days. Grade 3, points 6 to 9 – approximate £1,772 to £1,857 per month. Start date: ASAP. This is a permanent position.
Gainsborough Nursery School is a Local Authority Maintained Nursery School and we are looking for a childcare assistant to join our small, friendly and dedicated staff team.
Responsibilities:
* Support the class team across classrooms of 2, 3 and 4 year olds, taking responsibility for a key group of children and supporting children with additional needs.
* Work under the direction of teachers, room leaders, and teaching assistants, yet demonstrate initiative to support children’s learning and development daily through small group sessions and continuous provision.
* Plan, assess, and support children’s learning with reference to the EYFS curriculum (desirable).
* Attend outdoor areas throughout the year and support children’s outdoor development.
* Provide good literacy and excellent communication skills, liaising with team members, parents and other professionals as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in childcare or a similar qualification.
* Passion for helping children’s learning and a love of spending time with 2, 3- and 4-year olds.
* Patient, kind, a great listener. Calmness, good sense of humour, and ability to build relationships.
* Previous experience of planning and assessing with reference to the EYFS curriculum (desirable).
* Enhanced DBS clearance (required).
There may be overtime available on a week-by-week basis pending the needs of the school. Attendance at training days is required. The post also requires good literacy and excellent communication skills.
