This is a permanent, part-time position on an annualised hours contract. You will be contracted to work a minimum of 964.59 hours per year with a pro-rata salary of £12,540.50 per annum. Shifts involve working 37 hours across a two-week rota, including Saturdays, Sundays, and 3 to 4 evenings per week for 2 hours for cleaning and lock-up. Evening shift times vary as park closing times change throughout the year.
Please note that the role requires mobility throughout the operational area. Therefore, the post holder must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or meet the mobility requirements through other means.
The Opportunity
Based at Thorndon Country Park, the Park Operations Assistant will ensure the park is secure and accessible during key times for visitors. This includes maintaining access to facilities, ensuring safety, and keeping the environment well-presented. Accountabilities
The ideal candidate will possess the competencies listed below; training will be provided for basic skills, qualifications, and ongoing professional development.
* Ensure park car park access points are open during public hours and securely closed when the site is closed.
* Maintain cleanliness and functionality of toilet facilities, reporting repairs as needed.
* Engage with visitors to enhance their experience and handle any issues.
* Operate basic machinery and park vehicles.
* Perform grounds maintenance using equipment like strimmers and ride-on mowers.
* Ensure facilities, including toilets, buildings, and storage areas, are secure and available as needed.
* Support general operational activities.
* Maintain park cleanliness by litter picking and bin emptying.
* Conduct health and safety checks on play areas and complete associated paperwork.
* Monitor livestock.
* Assist rangers with various park duties.
The Experience You Will Bring
* Educated to RQF Level 2 (GCSE or BTEC) or equivalent by experience.
* Experience in customer service or public engagement.
* Good communication skills for providing information and advice.
* Experience working in a team and supporting team objectives.
