Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and dedicated multi‑disciplinary team at North Devon District Hospital. The post holder will work on the 16‑bedded Adult Acute Mental Health Ward and will be responsible for completing evidence‑based assessments and interventions with service users across a 7‑day service.
Responsibilities
* Work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary inpatient team on the 16‑bedded ward, caring for patients with a range of mental health diagnoses.
* Assess and treat patients individually, and use group work in a variety of settings, including patients’ homes.
* Maintain a good pace, be flexible and creative in approach and work independently.
* Provide supervision to an OT assistant as required; supervision is provided by the lead OT.
Experience
* Some mental‑health experience (essential).
Qualifications
Essential
* BSc (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy.
Desirable
* Basic therapeutic skills such as CBT or motivational interviewing.
* Completion of a Fieldwork Practice Educator course.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
* Solid understanding of OT principles and theories.
* Good personal boundaries.
* Professional judgement and clinical reasoning skills.
* Ability to work independently and use initiative.
* Basic IT skills.
Desirable Knowledge & Skills
* Knowledge of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and associated assessments.
* Group work skills.
