A long-established and highly respected manufacturing business in Co Durham is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join its finance team. This is an opportunity to join apany with a proud 50+ year history, supplying to both UK and overseas clients.
Your new role
Reporting to the Group Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance operations. This is a newly created position, designed to strengthen the team following recent changes in leadership and working patterns.Key responsibilities include:
1. Sales Ledger: Raising sales documentation, credit control, and handling customer queries
2. Purchase Ledger: Assisting with supplier queries and supporting invoice processing
3. Cash Book & Bank: Reconciling the cash book and preparing bank payments
4. Payroll Support: Assisting with weekly payroll for 270 staff, including calculating hours from timesheets and providing cover during absences
5. General admin: supporting the team with iing email and phone queries from suppliers and customers
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally 2 years experience in a similar finance or accounts role
6. Strong Excel skills and a willingness to learn bespoke systems
7. A proactive, team-oriented approach
8. Experience with payroll or manufacturing environments is desirable but not essential
What you'll get in return
9. Salary: £24,000 – £26,000 depending on experience
10. Hours: 39 per week with an early finish on a Friday
11. Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays
