As part of our continued growth across the Midlands region, we are seeking a skilled and commercially minded Buyer to join our Commercial team and play a key role in supporting multiple live housing developments.
The Role
As Buyer, you will take responsibility for procuring materials, subcontract packages, and services to support our residential developments. You’ll ensure all purchases are cost-effective, delivered to specification and on schedule, and compliant with company standards.
You’ll work closely with Commercial, Technical, and Site teams to maintain a smooth and efficient supply chain that supports timely project delivery and cost control.
Key Responsibilities

Source, evaluate, and procure materials, plant, and subcontract services in line with budgets and build programmes
*
Prepare and issue tenders and requests for quotations, reviewing and negotiating competitive supplier offers
*
Liaise with site and technical teams to confirm specifications and coordinate delivery schedules
*
Manage lead times, monitor performance, and resolve any supply chain issues promptly
*
Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and value engineering
*
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and best value
*
Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures, health & safety policies, and sustainability targets
*
Support the wider Commercial team with cost forecasting, reporting, and procurement planning
About You
Essential:
*
Proven experience as a Buyer or Assistant Buyer within the housebuilding or residential construction industry
*
Strong negotiation and communication skills, with excellent commercial awareness
*
Good understanding of construction materials, drawings, and specifications
*
Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
*
Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and familiar with procurement or commercial systems
*
Full UK driving licence and willingness to visit sites or suppliers as required
Desirable:
*
Qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management
*
Experience delivering cost savings and process efficiencies
*
Understanding of sustainable procurement and responsible sourcing
*
Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental standards in housebuilding
