Job Description:
As a Lead Engineer (mechanical bias) for a leading food manufacturer, you will be responsible for managing engineers, leading projects, and providing PPM and OEE support at the company's Trafford Park manufacturing site.
Our client is an established manufacturer of authentic global foods for hospitality, retail, food service, and wholesale sectors.
This role requires a time-served or apprentice-trained engineer with experience in a fast-paced environment. The business has multiple CapEX projects planned; previous project leadership experience is essential. The site is AA BRC rated; candidates must have experience working within a highly regulated/audited environment.
Your responsibilities as a Mechanical Bias Lead Engineer include:
* Act as the Engineering Shift Team CMMS Supervisor; support system implementation and control across phases, and train users to the correct standard.
* Manage the engineering shift, including 2 direct reports, to ensure maximum availability of all production plant and support equipment.
* Implement initiatives to reduce costs, improve OEE, and minimize waste.
* Ensure the engineering team operates to maximize machine uptime, planned maintenance, health and safety, quality, hygiene, and budget adherence.
Your profile:
* Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship (Mechanical or Multi-skilled) NVQ/BTEC or equivalent with demonstrable mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
* Proven leadership and team management experience.
* Experience managing contractors and issuing permit-to-work procedures.
* Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS).
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
